Pre Polytunnel angst
The polytunnel has been due for delivery for 2 days and the waiting is near killing us! We are expecting a 12 by 25 foot beastie! Everytime a lorry comes near we have our faces pressed to the glass of the windows…is it now??? Sadly this delays our build until the weekend of the 5th May – so if you are around and fancy playing at putting up a polytunnel, let us know! If we are numerous enough, maybe we can share some yummy food too…
IBC fabulous!!!
We now have 2 fabulous IBC’s on site at the college waiting for some angle-grinder action next week! They are absolutely enormous and take 2 people to move them, even when they are empty. Many thanks go to Toucan Environmental for these!
The top of these tanks will form the media-based hydroponic setting for growing plants, and the bottom will provide a watery home for the Tilapia! You can find more info on the sort of set up we will build here, though our system is slightly different in that we have 1 fish tank coupled with 2 growing beds. We arn’t sure this is the best set up yet, but have to start somewhere and will be playing with more configurations throughout the year.
