The first pilot for Bristol Fish Project took place at the ArtSpace LifeSpace College in Knowle. The 5000l polytunnel system ran from early 2012 until mid 2013. The system trialled Tilapia with salads including watercress and successfully grew fish from tiny fingerlings to plate sized. The pilot provided initial data for Unit 1 Vale lane. The pilot was also a trial of the community supported agriculture model the project desires to uphold. Some 60 community supporters contributed around 360 volunteer hours.  The pilot attracted a large amount of media attention.
